Subject: popping noise from rear wheel area
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

This is probably a a rhetorical question, but I need to gather wisdom. My 84 vanagon has recently started making a popping noise that seems to link to wheel speed and comes from the passenger side rear wheel area. It has been intermittent, goes away after a few miles, is worse under acceleration.

My first reaction is CV joints, but what do I know. Any other things that are better or worse. If it is CV, then are there opinions on replacing the joint vs rebuilt axles.

TIA

Jim Henry 84 Westy
