Subject: Exploding Seat Belts!

Had a seat belt retraction mechanism explode on me yesterday. I was pulling the rear facing jump seat out of the '88 Wolfsburg so I could vacuum under there when it let go. Hit me in the forehead, so no damage there.

Apparently one of the kids removed the black plastic clamshell that surrounds the seatbelt works. I knocked the white plastic cover off the spring and you know the rest - the spring used is pretty cool. I unbolted the remains from the seat frame, saved the washers and tossed the rest.

So, I need a need a new seatbelt retraction device. Need it quick too, this is the car my wife hauls her daycare kids around in.

But wait, there's more! As an extra added request, does anyone have a spare seatbelt latch for the back seat? This is the part the belt plugs into, orange button, etc. There's one in the back that will still latch, but the housing is splitting open.

Thanks! Charles "Luke" Lukey Seattle, WA
