If you fold the upper bunk as usual, there's still about 18 inches of
exposed bed toward the very back.  When the pop top is down,
there's an open space there 4 or 5 inches high (basically, the
thickness of the folded front bed section, plus a little more).
If you just fold the sleeping bag back into that area, you can
fold the bunk and close the pop top.

The Westfalia manual says not to store stuff back there;
some vague statement about air circulation problems, if I
remember.  I have trouble imagining what it could hurt,
though, particularly if it's just done during camping trips,
as opposed to using it for long-term storage.
