Woe to he who useth HTML on the list...
That being said, I have factory cruise control in Klaus, and it works very
well. However, since it doesn;t know ahead of time when a big grade is
coming up, I usually have to step on the gas in anticipation of the upcoming
grade, then when the grade flattens out, I just take my foot off the gas,
and voila - back to cruising speed.
(This is not an issue with cars that have adequate power to climb grades in
5th gear...)
Also: DON'T ever shift gears while the cruise control is engaged!!! This is
tempting sometimes in the afore mentioned grade-climbing scenario.
Evidently, the VW cruise control doesn't have a clutch interlock/kill
switch. (At least according to my owners manual)

Jim says:
Sorry, I meant to add this and hit send too quickly.....to those of you with
OEM cruise controls...are you satisfied with the performance, build,
maintenance of your system? Will it hold on long grades?
I searched the archives and it seems that the aftermarket Zemco brand has
turned into the Audiovox brand, which is now the Equus brand. Does anybody
know if the brand name has changed again? Most of the posts to the archives
were several years old.
