I plan to use rip-stop nylon to make a "Poor man's awning" by running a removable tent pole (in a sleeve in the rip-stop nylon) up from the rear hinge of the pop-top to the upper-most part of the pop-top and then back down to the front right of the luggage rack. I plan to then have that staked up by other tent poles to hold the edge of the rip stop that is away from the van. Should give lots of head room, and be cheap at the same time. When I get it done, I'll report back to the list. I should say that this is not my original idea, but this was discussed last (and every) summer, and this was the design that appealed to me.
