New Member here to the group and like most...NEED SOME HELP!!

I have 1984 Westy and starts fine after sitting all night but even after a 3 minute ride, she is a %$^*# bear to start. I have tried reving up the motor and then shutting her down. This seems to work but sometimes I forget (like tonight)...spent a wonderful 30 minutes in the parking lot trying to get her to start. Battery cranks really well but just no starting. Sometimes I can pump the gas pedal and she will begin to crank faster and faster and she will start. Tonight after 15-20 times cranking her, I pumped the gas pedal without cranking the starter (more out of anger than of brillant mind) and she started. Stoke of pure luck? ANY and ALL suggestions are needed.

Thanks....and keep up the great comments, mechanic tips, it really helps us newbies.

Ed
