I'm having trouble on startup, and until the engine reaches operating temp. (op. tempis the indicator just above the LED light)

It will idle fine at start-up.

If I depress the accelerator pedal, it stalls, or there is no response.

As it warms up the problem diminishes, and once it is at normal operating temp it runs "almost" normal. By this I mean the the engine accelerates well, but not great and marginally good. There is still some roughness, and occasional hesitation (seems to be consistant hesitation at 40 mph, no tach to know the rpm's, almost like the gas supply was shut off. I momentarilly let up on the pedal, and then it will continue to accelerate).

I have replaced the plugs, and cap and rotor, checked the timing, and installed the capacitor.

I am thinking the temp sensor #2 and maybe the O2 sensor. Am I thinking right?

I have read the Bently, but am not clear on the checking proceedure for the temp sensor. Could some one help with the proceedure?

Also help with the proceedure for checking the O2 sensor?

Thanks in advance for and help/advice, Ron Semko Orlando, Florida 1984 Vanagon, 1.9L with 200,000 plus miles 1978 300D with 300,000 plus miles
