Subject: Re: Engine Swap - what about TDI?

Quite the contrary with a TDI : the acceleration in a big box like the Vanagon will be FAR better than the WBX. The tired old finding fuel excuse doesn't cut it any more, diesel is in 80% of the stations I have been to. As a friend with a new Jetta TDI said " why worry about finding fuel, I can go 800 miles on a tankful, at some point in the last 100 miles I'm sure to find fuel!". Besides, what do you think trucks run on? Truckstops are everywhere. And if you are one of those that runs the tank down to the last drop, well carry a bottle of cooking oil, or better yet, a gerry can of fuel. Just my 3 cents........
