In reusing the ring with new Continental smooth HP FI hose, I can not remove it! I've tried forcing them apart, but all I do is tear up the hose. It won't come off again unless I cut it off like the original. I have not tried it with heat yet. I want to see if by applying heat that maybe this will do it. Also, I might try connecting over 60 psi to the hose and see if it will come off or be a guided missile.

I am impressed with this design.
