Subject: Catalytic heater questions
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

Anyone have any experiences using a portable catalytic heater in your van like the ones at this site http://www.uscatalytic.com/catalytic/amodel.html

I'm thinking about the smaller 3100a model for my van. The BTUs for this are 1600 - 2800. Is 2800 BTU warm enough for a normal vanagon with no extra insulation when used in relatively mild winters (20 - 30 degrees F.)? Can you hook up one of the small LP canisters like the ones used to power portable laterns and stoves? They sound like they are okay to use in an enclosed area, any comments on this? Any safety concerns?

Thanks,

Steve
