Hello, Vanagon Listers, I've been lurking in this list for a week or so, since I've decided to *really* look for a Westphalia this summer. I don't have any air-cooled VW's on the road at present, but in my past there have been numerous beetles, a '71 Window Van, and a '69 Westfalia. I'm seriously considering buying a 1980 Westie -- a little rusty, but will do for an economical camper (pending on the state of the engine). I talked to the mechanic (VW guy) who looked at it before the current owner decided it was not worth spending the money on all the things that I can do myself. The mechanic said it needed (among other things), a "Sway Bar Link" in the front end. I'm new to Vanagons -- can anyone tell me what this is, and how difficult to repair/replace? Thanks, Doug |
