It's a mixed bag. If you are certain that your air induction system is in top condition with NO leaks, especially through small cracks in the intake boot, I would be OK with an oil and filter change every 7500 miles. I would also inspect the air filter at this time and replace it if dirty (use good judgement here). I do not see any advantage to changing oil filters between oil changes if above is followed. This is assuming an engine in excellent mechanical condition - no significant oil consumption, no oil dilution from running rich, regular maintenance history. If an air leak is discovered or any other malfunction that could contaminate the oil I would change oil and filter immediately and correct problem. Bill 83.5 Westy
