It's not clear from the photos steve >> Sorry that it took me so long to get back to you on this one Steve. I just found out that these bolt to the body and are similar to ones I've seen on the back of American vehicles with a latch on the rear hatch and hinges attached to the body next to the hatch. When you want to open the hatch you just open the latch and swing the spare tire or spare fuel tank, off to one side and open the hatch.
