Bulley, now you know why I started my business. I got tired of hearing the horror stories of folks being murdered by high priced dealers or shops that either didn't know what they were doing, or were dishonest (or both). This last customer's engine I am presently stripping down to re-install a rebuilt engine I have found: No ground strap ever installed on VW rebuilt engine eventually leading to it's untimely demise (only 20k miles on the engine). Oil dipstick tube tack welded to the alternator support because the shop "lost" the original bracket when transfering parts over to the new motor. They then pretended like nothing was wrong when the customer complained that he couldn't check his oil from the licence plate door. Bottom of airbox (steel one on top of the motor) all beaten up by an attempt to pry it off of the motor instead of just removing the rear nut that secured it. The pry damage was so bad that they actually punctured the air box and then welded the hole shut! Oil pressure warning system disabled. And I'm not done yet. Ken Wilford Van-Again John 3:16 |
