Subject: 5% off for VW list members on Ebay auctions
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

i recently received an email through my local macintosh user group mailking list from an acquaintance who is selling a macintosh desktop machine on Ebay. He offered to take 5% less from anyone in our MUG.

IMHO this was a nice and substantial gesture on his part. This is his personal machine and not a business in used equipment. I am increasingly seeing newsgroup and mailing list postings which do nothing more than reference an auction on ebay. The old days of offering up a bargain for fellow listmembers may be coming to an end. It was the fraternal spin my buddy put on this sale which got me to thinking.

So I thought I would offer up this practice as a suggestion to anyone on our list who wants to (1) post to the Vanagon list that their personal Vanagon or accessory is for sale on Ebay or another for-profit auction site , (2) wants to get near market value for their personal Vanagon (3) still wants to give a break to fellow Vanagonaut and (4) want to find an good and loving home for their personal Vanagon. :)

Just something to think about. The 5% Ebay solution. BTW please note the "personal" thread above, this is a not to incite people to post for profit or their commercial enterprises.
