The linkage might work but I am not so sure about the tranny mount.  The
diesel engine setup was moved towards the rear of the van a bit for the
5-speed transmission version of the diesel Vanagon and I have heard that this
model (only sold in the US in '83) had it's own special mounting bars and
brackets which were different than a 4-speed Vanagon diesel.
It's worth a shot though.
