Like any fridge, if it is very hot inside the van, the fridge works harder, and may not keep as cold as desired, but these do work well. The good points are that it works at any angle, so no worrying about leveling the vehicle. The adjustable racks are very convenient, and the small freezer is nice to have. The freezer will make ice cubes, but doesn't get cold enough to keep ice cream. The bad part is the high long term battery drain. You definitely need an auxiliary battery, and if you camp for days without power or running the alternator, you will need a solar panel.
