Subject: DOT3/DOT4 ?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

I messed up. I need to know if I did any harm.

Yesterday was brake fluid day. I changed the brake fluid in our 1986 Syncro Westfalia and our 1991 Toyota MR2 Turbo. I had a liter of DOT3 and a liter of DOT4. I didn't look in the manuals and I should have. I assumed, incorrectly, that DOT4 would go in the MR2 where higher braking temperatures were likely and that DOT3 would go in the Syncro. I was wrong. I had it backwards.

Now, have I done any harm? Must I redo the job with the correct DOTs in the correct vehicles? If not, what are the consequences of leaving it this way?

Any and all advice (and wise cracks) accepted. Larry
