Hi all This must be either an insoluble problem or one so elementary that no one has deigned to help out. At the rear end of the accelerator cable installation (85 automatic) there is a snap on (ball & socket) union. It seems to me that this was engineered to be the fail safe/easy-to-replace part of the job. But the old cap WON'T come off the ball. Special tool needed? Special instructions? Anyone had trouble removing this critter before? The old cable snapped just at the join. There is about 1/2" tailpiece left on the cap. The cap swivels easily on the ball. The replacement has a small ring inside which (if the original is identical) wouldn't give enough resistance to upward 90º pressure not to release unless there is some element I'm not understanding.
