Interestingly, we had this discussion on the Type 3 list a couple weeks ago. The general consensus was that there is no problem jumping the FI Type 3, as long as you don't connect the jumper cables to the dead car, with the ignition on. Turn the ignition on after connecting the cables, and you should be all fine.
