I can guess the response I'll get to this question but here it goes anyway.... I'm wondering if anyone knows of any reasonably priced, fast and reliable weekender type vans/mini-vans out there that get good gas mileage? Our growing family travels frequently to our mountain cabin on weekends and this involves a 300 mile drive each way at 80mph. The vanagon is great as far as space, napping room and comfort go but is just to noisy and underpowered for this kind of long, high speed run every weekend. When we want to just cruise, enjoy the scenery, make stops etc. we take the vanagon. When we want to get out of town and get to the cabin we take the TDI wagon, but we are running out of space in the wagon. Do any of the Big Three's minivans (gag) have pull out bed options like the weekender bed? Has anyone bought a used Caravan (gag) or Astro (gag, gag) etc. and fitted a pull out bed, table, rear facing seats etc. a la Carat? Are these accessories available from aftermarket suppliers? I have even considered buying an EV MV(beautiful vans, really) but they are so ridiculously overpriced I can't bring myself to go for it. Engine retrofits on the vanagon are not an option in my mind. Thanks for any suggestions. Mark
