George: I've had this problem too. I keep a good supply of "Rust Check" or "Krown" rust prevention squirted in the door well and under the rubber mat in the step-well so that the water will not cause too much rust. I also cut off the seal from about 1 foot up the front - down the bottom and 1 foot up the rear of the door and I "spliced" in part of donor seal that was is good shape. I used black "seam sealer" (only thing on hand) to seal the ends of the seals together. It worked for a while, but yesterday I noticed that the bottom of the 'new' seal gets pinched when the door closes and it is again beginning to wear away (after only about 6 months). Every year I also take the door panel off and squirt rust check stuff every where I can get it. If I can't fix it, at least I hope to minimize the damage.

George, as we are neighbours, I'd be glad to show you what I've done. Malcolm S
