Leo: Last summer my throttle cable also broke on my 91. The dealer wanted a lot of money for a cable as they would only sell the complete unit with the metal caps on both ends of the cable and the sleeve already in place. So I asked the list, and someone suggested airplane cable, that's right, airplane cable.

So I called around in in a few minutes I had located some, I pulled the old cable out of the sleeve (this of course involved removing the spare tyre, the cover to the accelerator linkage up under the spare tyre) and took it to the cable place and they had the 'right stuff'. So I had them cut a piece for me - about a foot longer than needed - and then I went to the local hardware store to buy some screw 'thingies' to attach to the cable at both ends and some metal cap thingies to keep the cable from unravelling. I lubed the cable sleeve with graphite - (not oil as it will get gooy in the winter). I then threaded the cable back through the sleeve and through the linkages and affixed the screw thingies to keep it in place and put on the metal end caps. I put it all back together. and I have had no problems, and it was cheap. If I can help further, let me know. Malcolm S
