Huh?

What locates the spring perch? Is it suspended in mid-air? Or still somehow attached to the lower control arm?

The fact that you call it a "shock" eliminates the possibility of it being a strut.

The strut cartridge acts as the damper in a strut setup, and also as the steering axis. Is this the case with the syncro?

The spring - shock thing seems to indicate two separate entities.

Sorry for the jabber, I guess I'm just obsessed with nomenclature.
