The H4 connectors are a three plug connector that all early Vanagons already have (80-85 round headlights). The later Vanagons (86-91 square headlights) have a 9004 bulb (here in the US anyway) and have a goofy 9004 connector. You can get a BRAND NEW H4 connector at ANY parts store for around $2. Why get one from a junk yard?

I am moving into the experimental stages with my European H4 square headlights for the Vanagon (which are not made by Hella). I really like these lights as they have the running lights (like the Hellas) and comes with a rubber boot on the back which fits nicely and has a little drainage setup molded into it (for any moisture that evaporates out of the headlight). The best part about these H4s is the price (much cheaper than the Hella H4s but with really good quality). I'll let the list know when I a ready to sell these. Ken Wilford Van-Again John 3:16
