Subject: One last drawback/accel. cable 85 Van
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="x-user-defined"

Hi all Thanks again to all that got me on the right track re part #. The most helpful clue was that the cable doesn't go through the firewall but attaches to a ball and socket pinion near the transmission. All went fine except I can't get the old socket off the ball. Are there any helpful hints to ease my frustration. I'm working under the van which is just sitting on the ground....close quarters to say the least! To me it looks as if the socket should release with a little firm upward pressure. I've tried two screwdrivers, a cat-foot claw, needle-nose pliers, a little brute force to no avail. I guess it's possible that the ball and socket are rust frozen together. Any helpful advice out there. Thanks, Leo Meaford ON
