I've been using these same halogen backup lights in my westy for the last 9 months. No signs of melting yet. Unless you like to drive backwards alot, I don't think you'll have any heat problems with normal everyday use. A cheap and easy way to add some extra light in the back for those who want it. I got mine at Pep Boys. Somewhere in the $5-10 dollar range if I remember correctly.
