I always thought owning a bus was a never ending series of mini-projects :o)

Took the whole weekend and did nothing but bus work. Can't very well mow the lawn, as it's not growing with the dry weather we've had for the past two months. Started by re-installing the stereo and speakers, running new speaker wire, and the like. Mounted a pair of Kicker Impulse 6" round two way speakers on to the rear hatch. Had to fabricate a mounting bracket as there's no place to mount the things. Wasn't too bad. Took some doing snaking the speaker wires, however. Next, I put a pair of Blaupunkt 6x9 3-ways under the back seat. On the Wolfsburgs, there's a wood base for the seat/bed that had to be routed out to accommodate the speakers. Too, there's a bar behind the wood that needs to be considered. I finally made a mounting unit the cleared the bar, by extending the mounting by 1/4". Finally, I mounted a pair of Blaupunkt 4" round speakers in the front doors, using the stock mounting locations, and the grills from the stock speakers. This required taking the stock speakers off the grill with a few well placed wacks with a hammer and chisel. Good results.

After the stereo and speakers, I made a awning for use on my inaugural camping trip. Just a standard blue tarp, some telescoping tent poles, and a grommet kit. The awning will be held to the bus at the rain gutter with a piece of one inch doweling and some quick-clamps - the clamps have a rubber tip to protect the paint. I set this up and while primitive, it works quite well.

Next weekend, there's a tune-up and oil change in the picture. And making screens for the windows and a home made refrigerator.
