George,

I have two 1986 Syncros so I guess I am unfamiliar with the vent arrangement on your later model rear windows. Also the door flow thru venting works pretty well so I wonder why later models would appparently have two flow thru systems.

You can check the efficiency of the system by placing your hand over the door grill when cruising with all windows closed with the dash vents open. You can feel a strong draft into the door grills indicating the stale air is being replaced with fresh.

The flow is so noticeable that these door grills must be closed when operating the A/C, since the A/C system is a recirculating system. Otherwise the cooled air will be pulled out of the cabin instead of being sent back to the evaporator for another round of cooling.

Which brings me to your comment that your late model does not have sliding levers to open & closed these door grills. How can the later models achieve maximum A/C cooling without closing these grills?

It may be that these door grills do nothing on later models with the "window grills" providing the flow thru ventilation ! Let me know if you door grills allow a draft a cruising speed. Also if the rear window vents don't have an open/close mechanism, how do the later models achhieve max A/C cooling?

Regards, JP
