I like the pressure sender idea best. The waterboxer doesn't have valve stem
seals for one thing, and a quart in 150 miles would be extreme if that WERE
the case. Front and real main seals, oil pump - not good possibilities. I
have seen bent pushrods wear holes in pushrod tubes more than once, but if
your engine is otherwise running fine and nothing unusual has happened to it
I don't give this a high mark on the probability scale either.
There is only one sender on this engine (if it's the OE 1.9), up above the
lower engine shroud on the drivers side.
I am not sure about the 5 cyl thing but you might look at this, if you're
hot to spend some serious money: http://www.vanagongti.com/ Otherwise, IMHO
your engine is probably good for another 120K at least, given care and
timely cylinder head reseals (you're due for one now, BTW) and faithful use
of *OE COOLANT*.
