Each year there is talk about efforts to keep bugs out, and various designs and money spent to accomplish this. I was taking the carpet out of my van in an effort to fool around with the new middle seat that I have (I'd thank Tim, but he's still boycotting the list). As I was un-screwing the metal plates along the outer edge of the carpet (where the door closes) the screws seemed striped and I was thinking about how (with what) to use as a replacement (speed bolts came to mind). For no reason, my brain thought of snaps. Ya, the male side of snaps with screws in the middle going down holding the metal plates in place to the floor (maybe through speed bolts). Of what use would that be, I thought. Well how about snapping down a bug screen that is designed to fit? So I thought that might be of interest to some of you/us who are designing a bug screen for the sliding door opening. Maybe an extra set of snap covers (female side) to cover the snaps when the bug net is not in place and there is a lot of foot traffic. Just a thought. Malcolm S |
