i drive a truck for a living, and when I was taught to drive manual by a commercial instructor, you are never to remain out of gear at any time.. if your breaks fail, the engine can always work as a break, and it is dangerous to be loose in neutral in traffic.. now of course, trucks are different, but the logic is correct.. neutral is for shifting between gears.. your automatic is always in gear, so should your manual.. kris |
