Ken,

I was under the impression the cap fix applied to all the wasserleakers - in any case it's had no noticeable impact of any kind.

The switches have been checked, no problems. Temp sensor is new, as is O2 sensor; outputs from both seem to be in spec as much as I can tell with just a DVM. Darrell Boehler has given me some tips and tests to perform on the O2 sensor. I've not quite completed them, but so far it looks ok. He said he's seen AFM's faulty that cause rich running symptoms; I hope that's not it cause it's one of the more expensive components in the system to replace.

For the time being I'm driving with O2 disconnected; it's better on gas, and performance is ok, but not what it should be.

Cliff; The cap mod only applies to 86 and newer i.e. digifant systems. First: I would check the output of the O2 sensor with a voltmeter. The voltage should toggle between zero and one volt.

Second: check the idle position switch. It should make an audible "click" just off the idle position. You can check it with a meter but usually if it clicks it is working.

Third: the coolant temp sensor should be checked to see if it in specs. You will need the Bentley, a thermometer and a good digital Ohm meter. It's easier to just replace it IMHO. Let me know what you find.
