1. Fuel pressure (not the most likely, but check it) 2. Airflow meter (the most likely) 3. Ignition timing and advance controls, including idle stabilizer. (Sorry, I missed earlier posts and have no time to go hunting - is this an 83 aircooled or H2O boxer? I forget whether the federal, 48 state model has electronic ignition.The earlier years didn't, so they also don't HAVE an idle stabilizer to check...)
