Gary, there are two coolant temperature sensors:
    1 pin sender, VW 049 919 501,  for dash temperature gauge, is threaded
    2 pin sender, VW 251 919 501, for input to Digifant ECU, is NOT threaded
You can order these from the Bus Depot, as I did, and their prices are $6.95
for the 1 pin and $9.50 for the 2 pin.
