Dear List Gurus, In a Classic Bonehead Maneuver, I have taken of the box that shields and guides the clutch pedal linkage under the driver's seat, cleaned out all the road grime, applied a few dollops of grease and .... can't figure out how to put the thing back together. It looks as though one of the nylon pads on the linkage is supposed to slide on the crescent shaped aluminum piece attached to the inside of the box, but does it go on the top or the bottom of the track and what is the other one meant to slide on? That crimped sheet metal piece somehow, I guess. And why does the fork with the two nylon pads seem narrower than the space between the two tracks inside the box? Obviously it is the right size, because only minutes ago it was all assembled neatly, but .... Any help you can offer would be most appreciated. Also, this morning, before my dumb disassembly, it did not want to go into gear at all. I haven't had a chance to check the slave cylinder. When I get the box put back together I'll face the more serious problem. Maybe this is a good day to try Coby's famous adjustment. Woody |
