My wife Jeanette is in the Long Beach area (I'm in the Bay Area) and last week our 86 Vanagon GL was losing rpms, would cough a few times and then quit. Jeanette would then restart the engine and be on her way. We had the idler control unit replaced due to high RPMs, thinking that may have caused the engine quitting too, but she called tonight and said it happen again a couple of times today. Another small problem is the oil light intermittently glows slightly. Does anyone think that a lose ground wire could cause the dual problems of oil light and engine cutting out? Or maybe a separate problem? Help & advice would be appreciated. Lee... |
