I wanted to add that I have just treated all of the black trim on my white
'91 sychro westy (including mirror housings, side water/electric latch
covers, pop top seals etc) with a product called "Creme Protectant" by Blue
Coral Car Wash Systems (or Echo Labs). It's a light blue colored cream that
has the texture of skin lotion and works great! (It's actually made for
interior use, and left my dash etc. looking good as well). It has sun
protection and plastic and vinyl conditioners and silicon
somethingoreothers. Restored all the trim to a really nice and deep black
-- without that excessive (to me) Armorall sheen. Even the greyish white
fading disappeared!
Now here's something funny: it costs $70.00 a gallon (!!!!!!!) and is only
available to carwash/detailers, but you only need about a handful to do the
whole van, and the guy at the carwash sold me about twice that much for
$5.00. You can call around to carwashes/detailers who use this stuff, or
you can call Echo Labs (who makes the stuff for Blue Coral Car Wash Systems)
and they will give you the number for their local rep who can tell you who
has it.
