ACKKKK!!!!

That's about the worst horror story I ever heard! My local sears went to the same setup, and I tried it once with my Oldsmobile (1984 rwd V8 -- they can't mess that up, can they?) After changing the oil, they were supposed to drive around to one of the Sear's racks because my coupon included tire rotation for free. These racks are the centerpost kind with the four retractable arms that come out to the four mounting points under the frame. The JL employee, who could barely see over the dashboard of my barge, promptly destroys the inner sidewall of one of my front tires on the partially retracted rack arms. The Sears part of the franchise gave me a brand new tire that was about the same price and supposedly the same quality of the tire I lost. And honestly, my tires were 2 years old -- but I had a matched set which was important to me. They did the best they could considering the local Goodyear shops were closed, but I was really upset at driving around on an oddball tire -- even if it was new. That was enough to convince me to never go back! I'll certainly never take my Vanagon to one!

Good Luck in your fight!

Michael Townsend
