Hey there,
Hope everyone's 4th (for the majority of US listers) is turning out well!

Wanted to pass along my experience with Syntec20-50w and the Bosch Plat
4's. Put them in yesterday and I can definately notice a difference.
Vinnie, our 85 GL Westy, runs cooler even on (todays 106 degree w/heat
index day) and purrs along smoothly with really nice power.
The temp needle was running about half a needle above the led as I've got
an 87 degree thermostat and now it funs about dead even with the led. Cool!!
I chose Syntec because I could change back if I didn't think it was worth
the $2.24 a quart and it's compatible with regular dino oil in a pinch. I
also  figured it would be more available at local FLAPS. I'm not
anticipating needing much oil mind you, as Vinnie is tight as a drum and
leaks narry a drop. Just thinkin' ahead to troublesome times. (I've had a
few in the past after all I do drive a Vanagon don't I ?!)

Long and short of it, switch and enjoy!

BTW--I don't have any mileage #'s yet, but I will after a trip back up to
NJ next week and I'll post them to the list. Before changing, I was getting
around 19.5-21 mpg running at an average speed of 72-75 mph (verified by
GPS) in my Westy! One tankful got 22.5!  If it goes up I really gonna be
pleased!!

A K&N air filter is going in next, who's got the best $ on them, any ideas?
