Subject: New Paulchen Rack (long!)

I just purchased a bike carrier myself, but I decided to buy one made by Fiamma (Italy). It was considerably cheaper than the Paulchen and the place I bought it from recommended it over the Paulchen. I bought the carrier in Switzerland for 300.00 Swiss Francs which equals about $ 200.00. It is made of Aluminum, very light-weight and easy to assemble. I just installed it and it seems to work very well. The bikes (2) are easy to mount. They sit with their weels in two aluminum channels and are held in place with 2 straps each which can easily be tightened. In addition the outside bike is held in place by a clamp which clamps around the vertical cross bar of the bike. I can still open the rear gate and it stays open with the carrier mounted (w/o the bikes of course). I have not made any large trips with the carrier, but I am certain it will do fine.
