The archive being recalcitrant I will risk the groups displeasure and ask
whether anyone has ever compiled a list of shops that could be recommended
to folks on the road, customers who move out of the area, etc.? Or shops to
stay away from? I realize this poses some problems of subjectivity - people
can have widely differing experiences at the same place of business, but a
weighted survey might offer some value.

I would happily compile a list.
