chris,

So sorry to hear about your misfortune. Always trust your gut when you start getting those little warning signs.

Se@rs has a bad rep for auto work, anyway. Big legal mess a few years back. My personal story with them was getting new tires. I specified the correct torque for the lugnuts for the alloy wheels, something like 75ft/lb. (Dodge Colt) Before leaving the parking lot, I got out the stock lug wrench, put it on a nut, and could not get it to budge. I then stood on the end of that foot-long wrench (210lbs) and still no luck. Finally bounced on it to get the nut to loosen. They were all the same way. When I brought the situation to the attention of the manager (putting it nicely-this is a G-rated list), he brought the tire jockey who had done the work out to the lot with his torque wrench to remedy the situation. As the manager and I stood talking, I looked over his shoulder to see the jockey TIGHTENING the lugnuts!!! Needless to say, I got in the car and left the lot with tires (and driver) smoking. Never been back.

My local FLAPS has oil drain pans for $2.49. Maybe you could trade a J-Lube coupon for one? My philosophy is to only hire work on my vehicles that I absolutely can't do myself. And then only after serious consideration about selling it.

Larry
