True, but we are supposed to be unique. At least that is what we keep telling ourselves. Yet, as you point out, our government intrudes itself into virtually all aspects of life. This, in spite of a Constitution that is supposed to limit the scope of that government. A couple of years ago there was a bill in congress that, if it became law, would have required a Senator or Congressman who submitted a bill to write at the top of the bill the section of the Constitution that authorised the Federal Government to make and enforce the law the bill proposed. The proposal never made it out of comittee. It seems that the people who swore an oath to preseve, protect and the constitution cannot be bothered by what it actually contains. Oh well, it was a nice try there Founding Fathers.
