The OE propane tank is built like a welding gas bottle. There is practically no event short of a chance round of armor piercing ammunition which would damage it to the point of explosive danger. I MUCH prefer the idea of the tank outside. The risk posed by a loose propane bottle rattling around in the area occupied by myself and fellow humans (some more responsible and thoughtful than others) seems the greater. There is good reason why homes serviced by propane are required to have the container a minimum distance from the habitation.
