Subject: Re: Replacement propane tank

>>The propane bottle inside the car is fine, infact the Europeans seen to prefer a bottle in good condition inside the car over the American method of a rusty one with defective auto shutoff valves on the outside.<<

Over the years, we have carried two different smaller sized bottles... and both have leaked in the car after filling - while driving. I find even the tiny non-refillable bottles leak a bit over time if they in the car. After a while you notice a not so nice rotten smell inside the van... propane really stinks in a closed compartment, not to even address the safety aspects of any bottle left inside these air tight boxes.

We tie ours onto the luggage rack now - always outside!
