Frank's right, I currently have this problem on my 90 Multivan, if you look
closely you will see some remnants of "grooves" that where cut into the
inside diameter of the wiper arm mounting hole that mate with spindle
coming from the wiper drive mechanism, yours (and mine too) are probably
worn down to practivally a smooth surface so there is nothing left to keep
that wiper arm in postition except the pressure that you apply to the nut
when you put the arm back on.
