Remember the thread on exhaust parts and paint a while back? I don't remember anyone mentioning the concept of Aluminizing. In my experience, the best treatment for steel exhaust parts is to ALUMINIZE them (a hot aluminum plasma spray that leaves a spattered-paint like texture) and then powder coat over that. It’s bullet proof against rust, but aluminum is soft so if it scrapes the pavement, the coating’s gone. To find shops in your area, look in a business to business phonebook under “metal coatings.” I lifted this quote from the archives at Westfalia.org Anyone try this on a vehicle? thoughts/concerns??? mike 87 westy |
