Sachs may make a "one size fits all," but VW does not go along with this and specifies a different clutch for the syncro. There is a separate part number, the hub is stronger and i'm not sure what else...i thing Eric knows. BTW, all my parts were fine, including new motor mounts, Ron. It was the sachs clutch that was not. There is a wealth of info in teh archive about the prpoer syncro clutch. the standard sachs is not it...although some have had it wortk, many have had endless chatter problems even after new associated parts. steve The Bus Depot wrote: > > > The syncro does not take "the regular sachs clutch." > > You need a syncro clutch...different part number, > > different clutch. > > Actually, Sachs specifically states in their literature that their stock > 228mm clutch is for both Vanagon 2WD *and* Syncro.
