I am defiantly mad. I have agreed to take delivery on tuesday @ $5900 of a 1986 SWEET westy with only 315,000 miles on it (don't I get a couple of St. Christopher Badges for this). PO took it to VW and they replaced the low speed fan switch <?> and swore up and down that the head gaskets were fine. The Subaru conversion is very attractive (just got the detail sheet from Kennedy) and would bring the price up to about $8500 which seems to be the going price for an '86 and up. The Tranny does however concern me @ another grand or so. It would be nice to drive for a few minutes or so before making these big changes. Thanks again for all the advice that I did’nt take :^). I just hope I don't live to regret it too much. Walter |
